Why Magnic Microlights?
Battery lights need to be charged, while conventional bottle dynamos work with mechanical contact. Magnic Microlights instead use the aluminium rim itself as part of a contactless generator system. A small air gap remains between generator and rim – there is no contact wheel rubbing on the tyre or rim.
How Contactless Energy Transfer works
A rotating magnetic wheel inside the generator induces eddy currents in the passing metal rim. The resulting electromagnetic interaction drives the generator without direct mechanical contact with the rim. Available light output increases with riding speed.
Compatibility
Caliper: road and touring bikes with compatible rim brakes
V-Brake: bicycles with V-Brake rim brakes
Cantilever: bicycles with compatible cantilever brakes
Disc Brake: flexible strap mount for suitable forks/frames without using a rim-brake shoe holder
Rim: an electrically conductive metal rim (aluminium) is required. Conventional full-carbon rims are not suitable.
Designed for long-term use
The generator is fully enclosed and runs on miniature ball bearings. Replaceable brake pads are separated from the generator itself. UHMWPE rim-protection stickers and mounting tools are included.
Frequently asked questions
Does the generator touch the rim?
No. When correctly adjusted, a small air gap remains between the generator and the aluminium rim.
Do I need batteries or do I have to charge the light?
No. Electrical energy is generated while riding.
Does the system work in the rain?
Yes. The light and generator are designed for wet-weather use and specified to IPX6.
Can I use Magnic Microlights with carbon rims?
Not with conventional full-carbon rims. The CET principle requires a suitable electrically conductive aluminium section of the rim.
Do Magnic Microlights create resistance?
Yes. Generating electrical power creates a contactless electromagnetic braking torque. Unlike a conventional bottle dynamo, however, there is no mechanical friction contact between the generator and tyre or rim.
Why does brightness change with speed and adjustment?
Available generator power depends on riding speed and on the air gap between generator and rim. Correct adjustment is therefore important.

Contactless, battery-free bicycle lighting for aluminium rims. The integrated dynamo works contactlessly by eddy-current induction on any aluminium rim – with no magnets on the wheel.
For disc-brake bicycles: compact mounting directly on the fork with a flexible strap mount.
Please select orientation above.
Scope of delivery: 1 rear light, Disc mount with flexible strap, protective sticker and installation tool.
For Microlights Disc, the distance from the outer edge of the fork to the rim must be below 65 mm. For wide forks, suspension forks or very wide tyres, Wega is the more universal solution.
Contactless Energy Transfer
No battery
IPX6
StVZO approval
Anti-theft protection

Standlight
One light – several bikes
Already own Microlights? The lights can be moved between compatible brake shoes and Disc mounts. Additional brake shoes and Disc mounts are available separately – so you do not need a complete lighting system for every bike.

Why Microlights Disc?
The compact Disc mount brings the proven Microlights system to disc-brake bicycles. Generator and light remain a compact unit positioned directly next to the rim.
Will Microlights Disc fit my bike?
For Microlights Disc, the distance from the outer edge of the fork to the rim must be below 65 mm. For wide forks, suspension forks or very wide tyres, Wega is the more universal solution.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need magnets on the wheel?
No. Energy is transferred contactlessly by eddy-current induction in the aluminium rim.
Can I reuse Microlights I already own?
Yes. The lights can be moved between compatible Microlights brake shoes and Disc mounts.
When is Wega the better choice?
For wide forks, suspension forks, or when the distance from the outer edge of the fork to the rim is 65 mm or more.
